Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – A love letter to cinema itself
Over the years the action genre has bought us many all-time classics in franchises such as: Jason Bourne, Die Hard, Independence Day, Point Break, Mad Max, & of course even Terminator. Overall each film mentioned has delivered on the elements that in turn make for a perfect film. Action, drama, spectacle, and of course in the end a well told story to bring it all together. Allowing people to sympathize with the characters and leaving us as an audience wanting more.
How does genre influence film? By generating an enough of an emotional response as well as potential expectations of ideas that in turn is able to take one to a different world. Sending a well meaningful message that hopefully can change the perspectives of a few.
An act that has for sure been done by one of the best action franchises to come in our time. That being, Mission Impossible. A series of films that have extended pass our expectations of what action is supposed to be on the big screen. Delivering on a one of a kind experience sure to leave us blown away. Tom Cruise who stands as not only lead but producer of this incredible franchise, is second to none. Carrying through on some of the most jaw dropping stunts to ever been done in film.
Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning acts as a fantastic sequel to Mission Impossible: Fallout which generated a box office of 791.7 million worldwide. Opening the door for so much more to come. Thanks to one of Hollywood’s most talented directors in Christopher Mcquarrie. A artist like no other who can and has numerous of times bought forth some of the best well told stories in cinema. Crowded by one hell of a cast in Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Pom Clementieff, and Esai Morales. All of which have been nothing short of amazing throughout their careers.
People have been pondering how Dead Reckoning would compare to the previous films to come in the past. Is it even possible to surpass what’s come already? Well, after seeing it for myself, it’s safe to say that this is indeed the perfect sequel to hit screens so far. It delivers more than what’s expected and adds in a new premise that helps the franchise feel modern in today’s times.
Synopsis:
Ethan Hunt and the IMF team must track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity if it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than the mission — not even the lives of those he cares about most.
This time our story is focused on A.I. An advanced form of Technology built with the power to control and end the world if in the wrong hands. Now serving as the latest antagonist to come in the series. How does Ethan Hunt take on an enemy that can foresee his every move? While racing against time to protect the ones he loves most. The film does an excellent job tackling this question and brings forth a new challenge for our protagonists that no one could have anticipated. It is a beautifully well-crafted form of art where director Mcquarrie shines the light on how powerful technology has become and the power it can have over us.
This is a thriller that showcases the outright passion we all share for this franchise, while still delivering on twists and turns that continue to help evolve our characters in ways that makes us fall in love with them all over again.
If you’re someone wondering what to go see this weekend, definitely check this one out. It is without a doubt worth every penny, and is sure to take your breath away. A summer blockbuster hit that is just another love letter to cinema as a whole.
