One of the most well-respected and innovative genres of our time is science fiction. Adding as a form of mystery, suspense, and wonder in the eyes of the young. Bringing to screen some of the most ground-breaking & sought out stories ever to come in all of cinema.

Now being held as one of HBO’s most highly viewed series to arrive as of late, is none other than producer Lisa Joy & Jonathan Nolan’s Westworld. Partnered alongside a star-studded cast involving Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, & Ed Harris.

Entering a futuristic world where guests are allowed to live out their wildest fantasies in a isolated theme park ruled by the rich. Inhabited by life-like androids called hosts. Gifted with the ability of achieving sentience. Self-determined in wanting solace for her people, protagonist Dolores Abernathy leads a revolt against mankind in a battle that is bound to change the lives of many to come.

Based on director Michael Crichton’s 1973 film titled by the same name, this newly re-imagined take garners a set of questions that many of us have gone on in asking since the beginning of time. What does it mean to be human, how did we come about, & most importantly what are our underlining fundamental origins?

For years we’ve seen storytellers tackle these major themes that explores the meaning of our own reality. With countless narratives in: The Matrix, Blade Runner, TRON, Source Code, Reminiscence & many other popular past titles. All focused heavily on the very fabric of the bicameral mind, the making of our own consciousness, & how are our society along with the morals we stand by help in ultimately creating the individuals we are as human beings. Setting in stone an imagery of our own history in the making.

Examining how far we’ve come as a species. Westworld acts as a phenomenal tale grounded on the basis of life without limits. Taking a further look at our advancement & obsession with technology. Diving deeper into the reality & our future regarding artificial intelligence. This remarkably well-crafted series showcases the potential consequences of one’s actions, in creating life while playing god & the responsibilities that follow with it. Evaluating the possibility that we as people can evolve past an age of hate.

Packed with an immense group of diverse characters. All set on a journey of self-discovery. Awakened, into a world where the wealthy are basked into a fantasy filled with endless amount of possibilities.

Belittled by their creators, these newly constructed lifeforms called hosts are taken to war. Yearning for a better tomorrow, & fighting for freedom against a faction of oppressors. Hellbent on extinguishing their very existence.

Met with a beautiful soundtrack orchestrated by Game Of Thrones musical composer Ramin Djawadi, & brilliantly produced by a talented crew, Westworld is second to none. Standing as a platform for victims who are faced with an ordeal of no escape. Giving a voice to the unheard, & abused while challenged by a broken society in need of healing. It is a series that greatly expands our way of thinking, and grants us a wider insight into who we can become when condemned by the ideals of the elite.
