Zack Snyder’s Justice League Movie Review: A Masterpiece Decades In The Making!
Written & By John Darius
What might very well considered to be one of the most long-awaited superhero films to ever come in years, has now finally arrived in DC’s new entry being, the original director’s cut in Zack Snyder’s Justice League! Not since the earlier days of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy has a film within this genre ever gotten nearly as much acknowledgement nor praise to the level & heights this one has. It’s been four years since Zack Snyder’s unfortunate departure due to the immediate passing of his late daughter Autumn Snyder, & while the news had left many fans both puzzled and upset, WarnerMedia & Warner Bros finally came to a decision in wanting to put an end to the uproar once and for all. Giving fans the event of a Lifetime! By not only bringing Snyder & his team back into the fold once again, but also allowing him full-creative control in releasing his vision in the exact way that he intended.
Out of all the comic-book films to come & go in the past, it is without question… that the primary one we’ve all been waiting decades to see is unequivocally THE Justice League! Now after 4 long dreadful years since the release of 2017’s theatrical cut directed by Joss Whedon, original director Zack Snyder has now returned in wanting to set things back on the right track. Delivering to fans & audiences everywhere worldwide EXACTLY what they’ve been yearning for!
Going into a bit of my personal feelings watching the film, I’d say I was honestly left surprised by both the attention & sheer amount of detail that was added into just the first act alone. Nothing was left short-sided, & each of the leading characters in this story genuinely felt consistent in tone. Uniquely standing out in their own way that overall helped in pushing forward an amazing narrative written by another genius in screenwritter Chris Terrio. This latest installment brings forth an incredible reimagining take on the DC Universe in a way that’s never been showcased before on screen. Leveling an impact that I believe outright matches perfectly alongside old greats in past films such as: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, Man Of Steel, & of course even the controversial masterpiece that is Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Besides being DC related, each of these entires carries stories that have bought together a community of people (both fans of comics & general viewers alike), in a way that has emotionally seared in an entirely new era of cinema. Showcasing to the world not just the sheer importance of filmmaking in itself, but also giving us all a clear wide view as to why filmmakers in general deserve both the freedom & platform in having their full vision realized in the most authentic way possible.
The overall message that I believe this movie entails is that, nothing within the comic-book realm is impossible to adapt. We’ve heard from many critics, and even past directors state the opposite. Believing that there are genuinely some stories that are just not capable of resonating with audiences in the way we may have hoped. And while past incarnations have been a hit & miss from time to time, Zack Snyder once again steps up to the plate in setting in stone a dynamic change to the cinematic world of heroes. Revealing to us all that so long as the right visionair is placed at the forefront, & holds the true passion needed for the material given, any film no matter what story it is in the end, has a chance of being showcased correctly in a way that’ll at least serve not just the fans themselves, but also help in giving other creators hope & motivation in wanting to do the same…
Next, one of the very last things that I feel cannot go forgotten is just the overall care that Zack Snyder bought in casting actors of color for roles that felt so much more than just supporters to the overall plot. From respected icons in Gal Gadot, to Jason Momoa, and most certainly Ray Fisher, each name mentioned here comes from a background that at least calls out to a dozen members of the Snyder Movement. A movement that not only helped in making this incredible film finally see the light of day, but also even went as far as to raising $500,000 for suicide prevention in honor of the tragic loss of Autumn Snyder. By giving those same very fans idols to look up to, Snyder helped in reigniting a sense of warmth. Instilling onto the media, positive imagery of all ethnic backgrounds. Creating a newfound form of confidence for a younger generation that will indeed help push the narrative forward in bringing together a unity of people of all colors. Ultimately, setting the pavement for a future filled with diversity than what we’ve come to know from past generations. Creating true change made by our own actions, and the morals we as individuals choose to stand by. Leading our world into a better brighter tomorrow.
As a whole I’d say the vision Zack Snyder creates by the end of this film is fully realized & will leave even the average viewer immersed the entire way through from beginning to end. It is a love letter to why we love cinema, and how art itself can evolve given the right people steering the ship. Even if you’re someone who may not fully vibe with the overall DC films that have been released as of late, Justice League stands on par as one of the better outings to come from Warner Bros, and is one of the very few films within the comic-book genre that I’d say is an absolute Masterpiece on ALL cylinders!
